What's the difference between rugged and Ultra-Rugged anyway?Good question. Off the top of your head, you might say "tougher exterior", and "higher IP rating", and you would be correct. But that's just the tip of the iceberg. An ULTRA rugged computer is rugged in ways that may not be obvious to the casual observer.For instance: A RUGGED computer can only withstand a certain amount of water. An ULTRA RUGGED computer can be submerged in 3 feet of water for up to an hour! This would be a watery grave for most "rugged" handhelds. A RUGGED computer might have small delicate keys that were designed as an after thought, useless while wearing gloves. An ULTRA RUGGED computer has large, long lasting, keys, with audible and tactile feedback, glove friendly in any condition. Picture it: You are a police officer, it’s late at night, and you’ve just pulled over a driver for speeding. You have no idea who is at the wheel and what you are about to encounter; Let’s explore how the HANDGEAR could help aid this situation and secure a more controlled environment. Start by capturing a photo of the offender's license plate and car, even in extreme darkness. Images can be stamped with GPS location, time, and date, for the ultimate in proof. Data can then be entered manually on the alphanumeric keypad, from a series of large, backlit Hot Keys or by swiping a driver’s license, or capturing a bar code. There is no need to return to the squad car (which can compromise officer's safety). The optional ID PACK can even capture a finger print. An integrated printer can print a citation (all necessary information propagated ) on the spot whilst pertinent information is wirelessly transmitted to the court system. If the unit is separated from the officer the Distress Safety Strap will send an alert message to dispatch. If the breakaway is accidental and the officer is not in danger, the signal can be cancelled with the touch of a key. Safety has never been so simple.
